Hook Laboratory Research Facilities

New Pharmaceutical Sciences Building (PSB) of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Interdisciplinary approaches and resources of the Hook Lab:
  1. Protease pathways for production of peptide neurotransmitters and toxic peptides in neurodegenerative diseases.

  2. Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology

  3. Proteomic studies of secretory vesicle protein systems.

  4. Protease genetic approaches.

The Hook laboratory is fully equipped for interdisciplinary research in protein/peptide biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and mass spectrometry for proteomics of neurotransmitter and hormone systems. The laboratory is located in the new Pharmaceutical Sciences building on the La Jolla campus at UC San Diego. The laboratory is organized with areas for wet laboratory bench research, tissue culture, microscopy room, and a proteomics lab. The PSB building has a modern vivarium for work with animal models. Computational resources are available for computer analyses of research data, combined with database supported bioinformatics for proteomic studies.
