Strategic Planning

Summary

Faculty in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) are working on a five-year strategic plan that will assist the school in strategically focusing its efforts in support of the broader University of California, San Diego (UCSD) mission of teaching, research, and service/patient care.  The five-year plan will cover the period 2012-2017. 

Overview of the Process

As part of the planning process, faculty were surveyed to request input on the following areas.

  1. Teaching/Education:
    What teaching activities do you wish to plan for top flight pharmacy education?
  2. Research:
    What are your strategic plans for pharmaceutical sciences research?

    Note that pharmaceutical sciences covers basic sciences and clinical pharmacy research areas.

    Research plans may include projects of your individual lab, collaborations with SSPPS and UCSD faculty, as well as national and international collaborations.
  3. Clinical Pharmacy Practice (for clinical faculty)

    What are your clinical activity plans for innovative pharmacy practice?
  4. Other
    What other activities are you planning that are relevant to SSPPS strategic planning?

    (for example: community, outreach, and other activities can be included)

In addition to faculty input, three major faculty groups were asked to compile data and information as part of the strategic planning process.

Teaching and Education – Led by the Committee on Education Policy (CEP)

Research – Led by the Research Committee

Clinical Pharmacy Practice – Led by all clinical faculty
