Dr. David Adler is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Clinical Professor of Pharmacology and Community and Preventive Medicine. He also serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Dr. Adler earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966 and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1970. He completed a residency in Pharmacy at UCSF in 1971 following which he joined the faculty of the UCSF School of Pharmacy. From 1975-1995, he served as the program director for the UCSF/UCSD Clinical Pharmacy Education Program through which UCSF pharmacy students obtain advanced practice experiences at UCSD. In 2000, he was granted partial release time by UCSF to assist in the development of the UCSD School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. His clinical practice is in the area of chronic disease management , particularly anticoagulation therapy. He practices in the Anti-coagulation Clinics at UCSD Medical Centers and The San Diego Veteran's Administration Medical Center.

Dr. Adler has and continues to be very active in professional association activities at the state and national level. He is a fellow and past-president of the California Society of Health System Pharmacists, a former delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and has received the Pharmacist of the Year Award from the California Society of Health System Pharmacists.
