Dr. Susan McGuinness is Pharmacy Librarian for the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Biomedical Library, and Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor, NS for the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS). Dr. McGuinness earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of New York, Oneonta (1983), her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Colorado State University (1990) and her M.L.S. from Emporia State University (2000). Before joining the UCSD Biomedical Library, she was a Research Associate in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Dr. McGuinness is the liaison between the UCSD Biomedical Library and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is involved in the development and teaching of Pharmacy Informatics and Drug Information courses for the SSPPS. As the Biomedical Library liaison to the SSPPS, she works with faculty, staff and students to ensure the integration of library resources and services with curricular, research and clinical programs. She is also responsible for reference services and development of the library collections to support the teaching and research activities of the pharmacy school. She is currently serving as Chair-Elect of the American Associate of Colleges of Pharmacy Libraries and Educational Resources Section and Secretary-Treasurer of the Pharmacy and Drug Information Section of the Medical Library Association. She served AACP as Libraries and Educational Resources Section Leader for the Council of Faculties' development of discipline-specific educational outcomes for Pharm D. curricula.
