Dr. Renu Singh is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy. Dr. Singh received her Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree in 1986 and a Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy in 1988 from the University of Sydney in Australia. She received her post-baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from the University of Iowa in 1993 and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of California San Francisco in 1994. In addition, she is certified in Physical Assessment in Patient Care Management, Tobacco Cessation, and Immunization Delivery.

Dr. Singh served as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in Iowa City, Iowa, from 1994-1996. During this time she initiated ambulatory clinical services to medical residents and faculty in the general ambulatory care clinics at the UIHC. From 1996-2000, she was an Assistant Clinical Professor and an Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Wayne State University College of Pharmacy in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Singh's practice included developing and implementing a Pharmacotherapy Clinic, a Smoking Cessation Clinic and a pharmacist-managed Diabetes Clinic. In addition, she practiced in an Asthma Clinic, Anticoagulation Clinic, and an Adult Internal Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Singh currently chairs and teaches in the Fall quarter Pharmacy Practice course, which emphasizes non-prescription therapy, physical assessment and communications skills to first year student pharmacists. She also teaches in the third year Therapeutics course. Dr. Singh mentors many student ISP and research projects, including serving as faculty mentor for Operation Hypertension, Heartburn Awareness Challenge and Hyperlidemia screening events. Dr. Singh provides mentoring and administrative support to the clinic managers and pharmacists at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinics.

Research Interests

Dr. Singh's research and teaching interests involve numerous topics related to pharmacy practice in the ambulatory setting, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia and geriatric issues.
