UC San Diego Student-Run Free Clinic Project
All of our first-year students rotate through the UC San Diego Student-Run Free Clinic Project, often cited by our alums as one of the most memorable and meaningful moments of pharmacy school. Since our founding our pharmacy school has worked with the clinic, one of the largest student-led free clinics in the nation, to provide pharmacy services to people with limited access to health care.
Community Health Fairs
Each quarter Associate Professor Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir partners with the County of San Diego to host free health screenings and vaccinations at local libraries and other community-centered sites, prioritizing areas with low Healthy Places Index® scores. Undergraduate and pharmacy students may volunteer; contact her at jabdulmutakabbir@health.ucsd.edu for details. The health fairs are held as follows:
- Grossmont Healthcare District’s Health and Wellness Library
- 9001 Wakarusa Street, La Mesa, CA 91942
- First Thursday of each month, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.
- Spring Valley Library
- 836 Kempton Street, Spring Valley, CA 91977
- Second Friday of each month, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Lot O Care Fair
