Dr. Dong Wang receives Kimmel Scholar Award

Dr. Dong Wang has been awarded the Kimmel Scholar Award in 2012. He was one of 15 recipients nationwide selected this year by the Kimmel Scholar program from The Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research, created in 1997 to support the careers of promising young scientists involved in cancer research with innovative treatment strategies. The Kimmel Scholar Award will fund Dr. Wang's research with a $200,000 award over a two-year period to further a specific cancer research project. The Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research is dedicated to improving the understanding of cancer biology and to developing new methods for the treatment and prevention of cancer. It principally supports the programs of cancer institutions and individuals that emphasize basic cancer research, the rapid translation of scientific concepts into preventative and potential therapeutic applications and clinical research with novel or innovative treatment technologies.
