The Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences empowers pharmacists, scientists and trainees with state-of-the-art education and research to drive transformational advancements in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences that improve health in all communities.

Trailblazing Academic Excellence

  • Create an optimized, modern Pharm.D. curriculum that is grounded in science, compassion, community, and continuous improvement 
  • Explore the feasibility of implementing new undergraduate and graduate degrees
  • Source potential partnerships for post-graduate training programs
  • Invest in teaching and training development for faculty and practitioners
  • Expand experiential learning opportunities for Pharm.D. students

Cultivating an Inclusive Environment Where All Thrive

  • Embrace diversity by fostering a welcoming learning environment that promotes belonging and inclusion among all students, faculty and staff
  • Integrate cultural competency and mitigation of health disparities into core curricula and research initiatives  
  • Empower students with comprehensive support services, including academic, mental health and wellness resources  
  • Invest in faculty and staff professional development programs and well-being initiatives to nurture a thriving and innovative workforce  

Goal 3

Transformative Research to Improve Health for All

  • Pursue grand research challenges that advance strategic research themes and address key global health challenges 
    • Become the campus center for internationally recognized research on life-saving medicines, including their discovery, development, testing, clinical use and outcomes, pricing and distribution policies 
    • Lead in therapeutic innovation, including research on novel drug types, delivery systems and new drug targets
    • Identify and close gaps in health equity related to medication access, socioeconomic status and community-based variations in treatment 
    • Develop advanced research methods and technologies, for example artificial intelligence, to improve pharmacy practice, medication use, discovery and pharmacy education 
  • Empower innovation by investing in research infrastructure 
  • Establish Centers of Excellence, promote interdisciplinary research and build strong industry collaborations  
  • Attract and retain top talent through competitive packages and a vibrant research environment

Operational Excellence for a Sustainable Future

  • Expand community impact through collaborations with other academic institutions and community organizations on research and outreach programs that address community health needs 
  • Champion healthy communities by creating intentional and impactful strategies to improve health outcomes in communities with limited access to care 
  • Build an active community connecting pharmacists, faculty, students and alumni that fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange  
  • Build a vibrant alumni community that forges lasting relationships with alumni through events, mentorship and philanthropic initiatives

  • Utilize advanced technology to streamline operations, automate processes and boost efficiency, improving service delivery, cutting costs, and increasing stakeholder satisfaction 
  • Upgrade facilities and technology to support cutting-edge research and innovative instruction and enhance the school’s competitive edge   
  • Integrate sustainable practices into facilities, research activities and waste management  
  • Diversify funding sources by securing additional funding through strategic partnerships, expanded clinical enterprise and an active philanthropic program
  • Reinvent our digital presence by enhancing our visibility and engagement with key audiences through dynamic website content, media coverage and active social media channels to showcase the school’s achievements and impact
