APHF Clinical and Educational Outreach Events

About APHF

American Pacific Health Foundation (APHF), formerly known as Asian Pacific Health Foundation, is a community health nonprofit organization which seeks to advance health and wellness for the vulnerable groups in San Diego by providing free health education and health screenings for hepatitis B and C, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, osteoporosis, and vision health through outreaches at community centers. In 2023, APHF participated in 12 clinical and educational outreach events throughout San Diego County. LiveWell San Diego honored APHF for its service to the community, proclaiming February 5th, 2023 "Asian Pacific Health Foundation Day".

APHF's Outreaches

Each month, APHF seeks to host 1-2 community events. Events include virtual educations and pre-professional sessions, in-person educational events on hepatitis and/or tuberculosis, and in-person clinical outreaches where volunteers provide free health screenings, free medical education, and free medical consultations with licensed medical professionals in community centers around San Diego County! APHF is always looking to collaborate with community organizations and plan outreach events that benefit San Diego County's vulnerable populations. APHF Projects Spotlight

Hepatitis B Community Education Mapping Web App

APHF has begun piloting a new program through the development of our Community Education Mapping web application! Developed by Program Manager, Andrew Pham, this application will allow us to disseminate health information and track the spread of this information throughout various communities. We are conducting a testing phase of this application which will last several weeks and will focus around community education on Hepatitis B.

If you are interested in participating in this program, please reach out to us at healthtransmission.org!

TB Awareness Education Events

In collaboration with Sonia Lira from the San Diego County Office of Education, APHF hosted several Tuberculosis awareness presentations all throughout San Diego: Montgomery High School (2/6/23), SDC Mental Health and Resource Fair (5/20/23), Del Lago Academy (10/26/23), Point Loma (11/9/23), Dimensions Collaborative School (11/29/23). Spearheaded by Program Manager, Alan Doan, these events were part of an ongoing project through APHF's Tuberculosis Elimination Alliance mini-grant. APHF educated community members of the risks and symptoms of TB, as well as what individuals should do if affected. All community members were encouraged to use this education to become health ambassadors within their own social and family networks.
