As dean of the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, I am pleased to present our 2025 Strategic Plan, "Inspiring Innovation and Improving Lives." This plan charts a clear path forward for our school, defining our vision and priorities for the coming years and guiding how we will continue to lead in education, research, patient care and community service.
Developed from broad input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, preceptors, industry leaders and community partners, this plan positions us to meet the evolving needs of our students, our profession and the communities we serve. While focusing on our unique strengths and opportunities, this plan also aligns with the broader UC San Diego strategic plan.
Our strategic plan centers on five key goals:
- Trailblazing academic excellence
- Cultivating an inclusive environment where all thrive
- Transformative research to improve health for all
- Impactful community engagement
- Operational excellence for a sustainable future
The goals and initiatives outlined in the plan aim to advance educational excellence, drive groundbreaking research, improve patient outcomes and strengthen our contributions to the pharmacy profession and society. We have already begun implementing quick wins, demonstrating our commitment to immediate action and continuous improvement.
We also recognize our success depends on strong partnerships beyond our school. We look forward to working with our alumni, preceptors, industry partners, community organizations and others to bring this plan to life. As we implement the plan, we’ll share our progress and achievements, and we welcome your engagement as part of our ongoing journey.
Together, I am confident we will advance innovative educational practices that train future leaders, drive groundbreaking research and leverage emerging technologies to positively impact patient outcomes and global health.
