Please note that you should not proceed with the steps below without first receiving notice via email from the SSPPS Office of Admissions and Recruitment (SOAR), as unauthorized account creation may result in delays or complications in the process.
The next step of our P1 onboarding process, which is required for accessing Canvas to complete the remainder of the onboarding process occurring for the next few months, will be to complete this required task consisting of three or four steps listed below and detailed in the dropdowns:
- Create your UC San Diego Health Sciences Single Sign-On (SSO) account
- Set up Duo Two-Step Authentication (both Campus and Health versions)
- Log in to your Health Sciences email and send test emails
- UC San Diego Undergrads Only - Complete your email migration
Timing notes:
- Steps 1 and 2 should be completed as soon as possible and no later than the deadline noted in your original email.
- Step 3 will only become available once your Health Sciences email account has fully provisioned.
- Step 4 applies only to students who attended UC San Diego as undergraduates. Completion timelines will vary depending on whether students are currently enrolled or previously graduated.
- Step 1: Create your UC San Diego Health Sciences Single Sign-On (SSO) account

For this step, you will need your PharmCAS ID, the email address listed on your PharmCAS application, your city of birth and date of birth. Please complete the following:
- Visit the UC San Diego Campus Information Technology Services (C-ITS) New Applicant Setup page.

- Enter the required information. Input your PharmCAS ID in the UC Application ID field.
- Click submit.
- Once you press submit, you should see the following page to set up your password.
Note: If you are new to UC San Diego, a separate email will be sent to your personal email containing the username and Triton Student Number (TSN) shown on the screen for your records.

- On this New Applicant - Password Setup page, you should see:
- Your new UC San Diego Health Sciences username, TSN, and email address alias. Your email address alias is different from your email account, which is used to check your email. Your email account (username@health.ucsd.edu) is created separately with login instructions shown later on this page.
- The personal email at which you will receive the confirmation email.
- Set your password.
Note: To learn more about guidelines for setting a strong password, refer to this Passwords support article.
- Once you have set your password, you should receive another email confirmation stating you have finished setting up your account. A successful password change will also automatically set your Active Directory/email password; you will just need to wait 30 minutes for it to propagate to your email and Pharmacy accounts.

- Visit the UC San Diego Campus Information Technology Services (C-ITS) New Applicant Setup page.
- Step 2: Set up Duo Two-Step Authentication

Register your device for Two-Step Login Authentication. Health Sciences students should register for both the Campus & Health instances of Duo.
Once you’ve registered for Duo, you will be able to access UC San Diego applications and systems.
- Step 3: Log in to your Health Sciences email and send test emails

Your email account setup will take 6-10 business days after you claim your TritonLink/Active Directory (AD) account.

We will either notify you when you are able to begin this step, or you can begin if you receive an automated notice that you can access your email first.
- On a browser, go to: hsemail.ucsd.edu Enter Your Login Credentials
- Username: Use your Health Sciences email address (e.g.,
username@health.ucsd.edu).- Note: Some usernames may be truncated to 8 characters.
- Password: Enter your current UC San Diego AD password.

- If you forgot your password, reset your password.:
- Do NOT use the password reset link on the Microsoft login page.
- Instead, go to the UC San Diego Campus Password Reset Site to reset your AD and email credentials.
- If you still experience issues, contact the Campus ITS Service Desk at (858) 246-4357 for assistance.
- If you are unable to log in:
- Email your username, TSN (but NOT your password) and a screenshot of your error to the admissions team at sppsadmissions@health.ucsd.edu.
- The team will investigate and respond within two business days.
- When have you have access, please send a test email to the admissions team.
- From your Health email (username@health.ucsd.edu), send a message to sppsadmissions@health.ucsd.edu.
- Your message can be brief. For example:
“Hello, this is a test to confirm that my Health email account is working.” - Wait for a reply from the Admissions team.
You should receive a response within 1-2 business days. - If you do not receive a reply within 1-2 business days:
- Email us from your personal email address
- Let us know you did not receive a confirmation so we can further troubleshoot your account.
- If you do receive the reply:
- You may either reply once more confirming receipt, or
- Use an Outlook reaction (thumbs-up, heart, etc.) to acknowledge the message.

- Step 4: UC San Diego Undergrads Only - Complete your email migration

UC San Diego undergrads only
As a student who has taken undergraduate coursework at UC San Diego, you now have two separate email address: your original Campus account and your new Health account.
- Health Account: username@health.ucsd.edu (accessed through https://hsemail.ucsd.edu)
- Campus Account: username@gcloud.ucsd.edu (accessed through https://gmail.ucsd.edu)
- Email Alias: username@ucsd.edu redirects emails to username@gcloud.ucsd.edu
Please complete the steps below based on the following enrollment statuses:
Your Enrollment Status When You May Complete This Task Not currently enrolled, nor planning to enroll in any courses between now and Summer Session I You may complete this task right away. Enrolled now or planning to enroll in any upcoming term (up to and including Summer Session I) Wait until after your final planned term ends before completing this task. Steps to Transition:
- Optional: Back up your Gmail data
- If you want to save past messages or documents, follow these steps to back up your student Gmail.
- Forward messages that you want to keep from your Gmail account to username@health.ucsd.edu.
- From your Campus email, send a request to its-ics@ucsd.edu and request to close the Google mailbox and ask them to direct your username@ucsd.edu alias to the username@health.ucsd.edu mailbox.
Important note: Remember that UC San Diego accounts are suspended after two consecutive quarters of inactivity (not being enrolled in courses). Make sure to stay on top of your email and account activity.
