Congratulations on your admission to the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program! We’re excited to help you begin this journey.
What is onboarding?
Onboarding is a process which includes several steps you will be required to complete between now and matriculation. It is designed to help you meet school and campus enrollment requirements, introduce you to systems you’ll use during your PharmD studies, and more.
How and when will I complete onboarding tasks?
The first few onboarding tasks can be found here. After you complete these, specifically starting around late March or early April 2026, tasks will be organized into monthly modules in Canvas, UC San Diego's Learning Management System. Each unit will typically include:
- Informational materials to review.
- Action items with specific deadlines, which will be communicated as tasks are published.
Other UC San Diego main campus departments will send separate communications with their own requirements that our onboarding team does not manage or track. While we can’t provide exact timing nor tasks to expect outside of our own department, these main campus tasks are equally important and must be completed by the deadlines provided by those departments. Please also prioritize these requirements to avoid delays in meeting your overall enrollment obligations with the university.
Please complete all tasks promptly. Delays can negatively impact your onboarding and may result in your admission offer being rescinded if requirements outlined in your Confirmation of Acceptance email are not met. We understand many may be finishing undergraduate coursework or working full time, so our timelines are designed to be manageable alongside current responsibilities.
How do I communicate issues related to onboarding, including major life events that may impact my timeline?
For general communications related to onboarding, you may contact the Admissions team at sppsadmissions@health.ucsd.edu.
If you anticipate travel, major life events (e.g. weddings, childbirth, medical procedures, etc.), or other circumstances that could affect your ability to regularly check emails and/or meet onboarding deadlines - especially those related to intern licensure - please notify us as soon as possible.
If unexpected issues arise, please also reach out to us as soon as you are able. We understand some situations make communication challenging, but onboarding is critical to you being able to start your P1 year on time. Our goal is to support you, so please keep us informed so we can help you navigate any obstacles.
