Three SSPPS students were honored at the recent San Diego California Pharmacists Association (SDCPhA) Annual Banquet on January 15, 2023. Laura Lucero (P3), Ryan Ha (P3), and Michelle Phung (P2) each received a scholarship award from outgoing SDCPhA President, Jennifer Hendricks, and President-Elect, Cathy Lam. The students were recognized for their professional contributions to SDCPhA and the pharmacy profession. The SDCPhA Annual Banquet was celebrated at Stone Brewing in Liberty Station with installation of new board members, officers, and President for 2023. The evening included a three-course meal, and raffle prizes that benefited the UC San Diego Student-Run Free Clinic Project pharmacy services. Despite the heavy rains that evening and being the long holiday weekend for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many San Diego pharmacists, students and guests attended and enjoyed networking for the first in-person SDCPhA banquet since 2019. Pharmacists in attendance included David Bao (SDCPhA Treasurer), Board members Rachel Sperling (with baby Isaac) and Paul Dwork, Allison Luna DePaul, Corey Edwards, Prashant Koyani, Cherry Charlestham, Bita Farrokhroo, Carolyn Szigethy, Anthony Harrison, and P2 student Kimberly Ngo. Other guests included Dr. Robert Gish from Asian Pacific Health Foundation and Danny DePaul. SSPPS Dean Brookie Best and faculty Alex Luli (Board Member) and Renu Singh were also in attendance.
