Staff from SSPPS attended the 22nd Annual César E. Chávez Celebration Kickoff and Scholarship Awards, where they had the opportunity to enjoy the festivities and learn from speakers. Dr. Frances Contreras, Dean of UC Irvine's School of Education, delivered the keynote speech about staying true to her roots while further supporting Latino and underrepresented students. Additionally, UC San Diego Student Scholars were recognized for their inspirational community-based work promoting César E. Chávez's core humanitarian values. Other highlights from the event include special performances by Mariachi La Joya del Sur and DJ Akrite.
