During spring quarter, CSHP-UCSD held a variety of professional, educational, and fundraising events for our members and community to enjoy. Here are some highlights:
18th Annual Phun Run
Our Phun Run Chair, Amy Cruz (P2, Class of 2025), and her committee planned and hosted the 18th Annual Phun Run on the UC San Diego campus on April 18th. Over one hundred students, faculty, alumni, family, and friends ran the new 5k course, participated in the silent auction and Zumba class, and watched the excellent performances by the UC San Diego Dance Team. The funds raised went to support the UC San Diego Student-Run Free Clinics. Thank you for making this event a success.
Organ Donation Lunchtime Talk and Symposium
Michelle Tran and Sophia Ho (P2s, Class of 2025), our Community Affairs Co-Chairs, organized the Organ Donation Lunchtime Talk held on April 11th. Courtney Kutach, RN presented on how Lifesharing helps connect organ donors with transplant recipients in San Diego County. Attendees learned about the different types of donations, including deceased, living, tissue, and organ donation. This was followed by the Organ Donation Symposium on April 13th where a panel of experts shared their connection to organ donation and their unique experiences working in the field. Special thanks to Dr. Brubaker (Organ Transplant Surgeon), Dr. Lichvar (Organ Transplant Pharmacist), Drs. Yap and Abraham (PGY2 Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residents), and Emily Walker (Organ Transplant Patient) for sharing your insight with us!
Culture Fusion
On May 11th, Caitlyn Reyes (P2, Class of 2025), our Fundraising Chair, and her committee put on a wonderful Culture Fusion event that celebrated our diverse cultural backgrounds here at Skaggs. The night was full of good food, fantastic music performances, fashion, and fun! At the end of the night, our new 2023-2024 Board was inducted by CSHP Board Director, Dr. Christine Cadiz (Alumna, Class of 2012). Thank you to all who attended and great job to all the performers and food contestants.
