Vice Chancellor Brenner announces the seven Health Sciences finalists for the 2013 “Women Who Mean Business” award from the San Diego Business Journal. Four of our faculty members were announced as award winners at the 20th annual WWMB luncheon on November 13, where Dr. Vivian Reznik hosted the finalists to celebrate their achievements. Please join me in congratulating the four award winners, Drs. Connie Benson, Kelly Frazer, María Elena Martínez and Linda Zangwill, along with finalists Drs. Mary Harbert, Razelle Kurzrock and Candis Morello.
Dr. Candis M. Morello, an associate professor and a founding faculty member of the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, was selected as the school’s Associate Dean for Student Affairs in 2011. In 2009, she designed and opened a novel Diabetes Intense Medical Management (DIMM) Clinic at the VA San Diego Healthcare system, a collaborative effort with the Chief of Endocrinology. Dr. Morello also was instrumental in developing a Diabetes Care Clinic at the UC San Diego Free Medical Clinics run by student volunteers, as well as a pharmacist-run Diabetes Care Clinic at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
