The California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) Pacific Coast Preceptor Conference (PCPC) was held at the Margaritaville Resort in sunny Palm Springs, California from April 27-29. The annual conference brought together pharmacy preceptors, faculty, residency program directors, and experiential education directors/deans from around California to share their research and best practices for preceptor development. SSPPS faculty, Drs. Christina Mnatzaganian, Alex Luli, and Renu Singh presented their findings from a collaborative SSPPS clinical faculty research project, "Does Timing and Type of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Rotations Influence Residency Match Rates?" Dr. Mnatzaganian also co-presented with Dr. Tram Cat from UCSF School of Pharmacy with a talk, "Beyond Challenging Conversations: When your Learner Fails to Launch." This session was followed by roundtable discussions with several shared cases vignettes. This annual precepting-focused conference encourages networking with pharmacist colleagues from around the state and west coast and enables experiential education faculty from schools of pharmacy to share strategies and ideas to improve the learning experience for pharmacy students and residents.
